Wang Ping

Wang Ping: is a poet, novelist, and artist, born in 1957 in Shanghai, China during the Cultural Revolution. She earned a BA in English from Beijing University and a PhD in comparative literature from New York University in 1999. Her poetry collections include Ten Thousand Waves (Wings Press, 2014) and The Magic Whip (Coffee House Press, 2003). Her nonfiction book Aching for Beauty: Footbinding in China (University of Minnesota Press, 2000) won the Eugene Kayden Award for the Best Book in Humanities. She is professor of English at Macalester College in Saint Paul, Minnesota.
