John Angelopoulas
John Angelopoulas: a self–taught artist whose Greek heritage has played a pivotal part in the development of his art. Influenced by the multimedia work of his uncle and mentor, Robert J. Andrews, an internationally acclaimed iconographer, Angelopoulas’ paintings combine the fantastical world of religion and mythology. A New Hampshire native, he has lived on the seacoast in Portsmouth for the past 25 years. The four paintings which appear in this issue are visual interpretations of poems written by Charles Simic.
