Noriko Sakanishi: when I was growing up in Japan, I was thinking that I would become a writer or poet since I loved words and writing. When I came to the United States, I discovered and fell in love with making visual art and realized that it is the thing I should do with the rest of life. Life is a funny and strange thing.
