Gary Lawless
has published 16 poetry books, 12 in the United States and 4 in Italy, including Caribouddhism and Poems for the Wild Earth. His writing deals with issues of environmental and social justice and the voices of the underprivileged and overlooked. He has led writing classes for several nontraditional audiences, such as artists with disabilities at Spindleworks in Brunswick, Maine; the homeless population at Preble Street in Portland, Maine; and war veterans back from Afghanistan and Iraq. He and his partner Beth Leonard own Gulf of Maine Books, an independent bookstore in Brunswick, Maine.
